COVID-19 Impacts to Travel Offerings

Several suppliers and destinations have temporarily suspended operations amid COVID-19 concerns.

Supplier Suspensions

The following suppliers have suspended cruise, tour, and/or package operations, with plans to resume operations on the dates listed below:

  • Abercrombie & Kent: Operations have resumed. Abercrombie & Kent is continuing to assess future travel operations on a destination by destination basis around the world. If your upcoming travel plans are affected, an A&K Travel Consultant will contact you or your travel professional to discuss postponing your journey, approximately 30-45 days prior to departure.
  • AmaWaterways River Cruise: Sailing has resumed on select ships for fully vaccinated passengers only. Dates vary by ship and location. Please visit https://www.amawaterways.com/travel-updates for the full list of confirmed and suspended sailings.
    • Mekong River cruises through Vietnam and Cambodia have been suspended through November 30, 2021
  • Aqua Expeditions: Sailing has resumed on select ships
  • Avalon Waterways: Cruises have resumed on all of Europe’s major rivers through 2021 and beyond. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required for all Avalon cruises.
  • Avanti Destinations: Avanti will reach out to customers with affected bookings departing before December 31, 2021
  • Azamara: Dates vary by ship
    • Azamara Quest: Sailings have resumed
    • Azamara Journey: Sailings have resumed
    • Azamara Pursuit: January 2022
    • A number of sailings operating in Latin America and Australia between September 2021 and May 2022 have been cancelled. Please visit https://www.azamara.com/cruising-suspension for more details.
  • Carnival Cruise Lines: Dates vary by itinerary. To check the status of your sailing, visit “Check the Status of My Sailing”.
  • Celebrity Cruises: Sailings have resumed on select ships and itineraries.
    • Celebrity Edge will resume sailing in the Caribbean on June 26, 2021
    • Celebrity Millennium will resume sailing in Alaska on July 23, 2021
    • Celebrity Edge will resume sailing around the Greek Islands on June 19, 2021
    • Celebrity Millennium will resume sailing in the Caribbean on June 12, 2021
    • Celebrity Flora will resume sailing around the Galapagos on July 4, 2021
    • The 2021 Europe Season sailings on Edge and Constellation departing May through October 2021 have been cancelled.
  • CIE Tours: Departures to all destinations are now operational.
  • Club Med: Dates vary by location

    • 2021 departures to China will not operate.
    • The 2020 Oberammergau Passion Play has been postponed and rescheduled to begin in May 2022.
  • Cosmos: Many destinations are now open for travel. Proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination is currently required for all Cosmos tours. Cosmos will reach out to affected travelers if their trip has been cancelled.
  • Costa Cruises: Sailing has resumed for most ships. Costa will reach out to affected customers if their sailing has been cancelled.
  • Costsaver: Costsaver is reviewing departures on a case-by-case basis. Should your trip be impacted and unable to operate, they will contact you directly approximately 45-60 days prior to your trip’s planned start date. All guests traveling through December 31, 2022 are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which may include a booster shot to keep it current and valid. Children under 16 must provide a verifiable and negative COVID-19 test result taken 72 hours prior to the start of the tour until further notice.
  • Crystal Cruises: Dates vary by cruise type
    • All Crystal Symphony voyages from January 2022 to March 2022 have been cancelled
    • All Crystal Esprit voyages cancelled through November 23, 2021
    • River voyages aboard Crystal Debussy and Crystal Ravel: August 28, 2021
    • Voyages from St. Maarten and Antigua from August through December 2021 have been cancelled.
    • Select river voyages aboard Crystal Bach and Crystal Mahler suspended through September to December 2021
    • All voyages aboard Crystal Serenity: July 1, 2021
    • Expedition voyages aboard Crystal Endeavor suspended through August 2021
    • All voyages aboard Crystal Symphony to Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia/New Zealand from July to December 2021 have been cancelled. Crystal Symphony will now be deployed to the Caribbean with new voyages departing August through December 2021.
  • Cunard: Dates vary by ship
    • Queen Elizabeth successfully returned to sailing in August and we are delighted to be sailing again after such an extended pause in operations. Queen Elizabeth’s Summer at Sea voyages for UK guests are underway and we are really excited to be welcoming guests back on board at long last. Following these UK staycation voyages, Queen Elizabeth will continue to sail a little closer to the UK, including voyages to the Iberian Coast and the Canary Islands. In early 2022 she will head back to Asia to continue her originally scheduled itineraries.
    • Queen Mary 2 sailings: The first four scheduled voyages planned to depart between November 14 and December 10, 2021 have been cancelled. Sailing will resume on December 13, 2021.
    • Queen Victoria sailings: Scheduled to resume April 23, 2022.
  • Disney Cruise Line: Dates vary by ship.
    • Disney Dream sailings have resumed.
    • Disney Fantasy resumed September 11, 2021. Voyages 7-nights and longer will resume October 9, 2021.
    • Disney Wonder departures from San Diego resumed October 1, 2021. Departures from Galveston will resume November 19, 2021.
    • Disney Magic departures will resume October 28, 2021
    • In order to sail, Guests 12 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Due to recently updated technical guidance from the CDC, Guests 11 years of age and younger are not required to be vaccinated, but must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (paid for by the Guest) taken between 3 days and 24 hours prior to the date you set sail. The test should be a rapid PCR test or lab-based PCR test. Rapid antigen tests are not accepted. Additionally, beginning September 13, all Guests, regardless of age and vaccination status, are also required to take a COVID-19 test administered by Inspire Diagnostics at the terminal before boarding.
  • Emerald Cruises: Dates vary by location
    • European and Russian River Cruises are suspended through December 31, 2021, with the following exceptions:
      • Jewels of the Rhine (EWAB) sailings October 23, 2021
      • Danube Delights (EWNB / EWMB) sailings October 18 & 25 2021
      • Enchantment of Eastern Europe (EWBB) sailings October 4 & 11 2021
      • Splendours of Europe (EWCR) sailing October 07, 2021
      • Secrets of the Douro (EPDC) sailings October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and November 6 & 13 2021
      • Christmas Markets on the Rhine (EWXZ) sailing December 12 2021

    • Mekong River Cruises suspended through February 28, 2022
  • G Adventures: Some G Adventures tours and all National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures tours suspended through December 31, 2021. G Expedition Antarctica departures have been suspended through March 31, 2022.
  • Globus: Many destinations are now open for travel. Proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination is currently required for all tours. Globus will reach out to affected travelers if their trip has been cancelled.
  • Holland America Line: Dates vary by ship
    • Due to evolving travel restrictions, Noordam sailings in March and April of 2022 will be moved to March and April of 2023 to comparable crossings on the Westerdam.
    • Oosterdam will restart cruising May 1, 2022
    • Volendam will restart cruising May 1, 2022
    • Westerdam will restart cruising May 8, 2022
    • Zaandam will restart cruising May 12, 2022
    • Grand World Voyages will resume January 3, 2023
    • Roundtrip Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale will begin on the following dates:
      • Nieuw Amsterdam: October 23, 2021
      • Rotterdam: November 3, 2021
      • Eurodam: November 14, 2021
      • Nieuw Statendam: November 21, 2021
    • Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and South America cruises are cancelled through the remainder of 2021
    • As Holland America Line continues to review and assess its plans around the Canadian Transport Ministry’s Interim Order that closed Canadian ports and waters to passenger vessels, the company is extending its pause of cruise operations to now include all sailings that depart from or conclude in a Canadian port in 2021. This will include several Alaska, three Canada/New England and two Pacific Coastal cruises in summer and fall of this year. It also includes all Land+Sea Journeys.
    • The following ships will be leaving the Holland America Line fleet: Amsterdam, Maasdam, Rotterdam, and Veendam. Holland America Line’s newbuild Ryndam will be renamed to Rotterdam. Guests who are currently booked on a cruise aboard these ships will be contacted by Holland America Line with more information.
  • Hurtigruten: Dates vary by ship and location
  • Insight Vacations: Insight is reviewing departures on a case-by-case basis. Should your trip be impacted and unable to operate, you will be contacted directly approximately 45-60 days prior to your trip’s planned start date.
  • Intrepid Travel: Tours cancelled through November 30, 2021
  • Kensington Tours: For those traveling before July 31, 2021, Kensington’s Destination Experts will be in direct contact to discuss the options available to you and provide the latest updates regarding the destination you are traveling to.
  • Lindblad Expeditions: June 2021
  • Luxury Gold: Luxury Gold is reviewing departures from March onwards on a case-by-case basis. Should your trip be impacted and unable to operate, you will be contacted directly approximately 45-60 days prior to your trip’s planned start date.
  • Monograms: Many destinations are now open for travel. Proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination is required for all international travelers. Monograms will reach out to affected travelers if their trip has been cancelled.

    • Emerald Princess sailings to Australia and New Zealand between December 2021 and March 2022 have been cancelled.
    • The Caribbean Princess November 20, 2021 Southern Caribbean with ABC Islands sailing has been cancelled.
    • Ruby Princess October 17, 2021 sailing from San Francisco has been cancelled.
    • Island Princess October through November 2021 sailings in Europe have been cancelled.
    • The remaining 2021 Canada & New England season and sailings from New York have been cancelled.
    • The remaining 2021 Mediterranean season on Enchanted Princess has been cancelled
    • Japan sailings on Diamond Princess suspended through November 8, 2021
    • As a result of the Canadian Transport Ministry’s Interim Order that closed Canadian ports and waters to passenger vessels, the company has found it necessary to cancel the following voyages:

    • Pacific Princess, Sun Princess, Sea Princess, Star Princess, and are leaving the Princess Cruises fleet. Due to the imminent departure of these ships from the fleet, the following sailings have been cancelled:

All guests traveling with Trafalgar through December 31, 2022 must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, which may include a booster shot to keep it current and valid. Children under 16 must provide a verifiable and negative Covid-19 test result taken 72 hours prior to the start of the tour (taking time zones into consideration) until further notice.
  • Uniworld: January 1, 2021
  • Viking Ocean Cruises and Viking River Cruises: Limited operations have restarted for fully vaccinated guests, but specific itineraries are still being cancelled. Guests will be notified directly by Viking if their sailing has been cancelled.

Destination Suspensions

  • Australia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Australia. Australia has barred all non-residents and non-Australians from entering the country.
  • Bahamas: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for The Bahamas. A negative COVID-19 test and Travel Health Visa Application are required to enter the country.
  • Brazil: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Brazil. Brazil requires all air travelers to provide a Traveler’s Health Declaration and negative COVID-19 test. Land and sea borders are closed until further notice.
  • Canada: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Canada. Beginning August 9, 2021, fully vaccinated U.S. citizens will be allowed to enter Canada. All travelers must provide their information through the ArriveCAN system and provide a negative PCR COVID-19 test for entry.
  • China: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for China. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry. Entering travelers must quarantine for 14 days after arrival.
  • Costa Rica: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Costa Rica. Air travelers must provide proof of medical insurance policy and complete an online Health Pass.
  • El Salvador: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for El Salvador. Travelers must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for entry.
  • European Union: A number of countries within the EU now allow entry to fully vaccinated U.S. travelers. Please visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/COVID-19-Country-Specific-Information.html to find each country’s specific entry requirements.
  • France: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for France. U.S. travelers are allowed entry with proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
  • French Polynesia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for French Polynesia. Effective February 1, 2021, travel to French Polynesia is temporarily suspended for tourists from all origins until further notice.
  • India: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution advisory for India. Travel to India for tourism and/or other short-term purposes is not permitted until November 15, 2021, for individuals holding tourist or e-tourist visas. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Indonesia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Indonesia. Valid visas/residence permits, proof of full vaccination, and a negative COVID-19 test are required for entry.
  • Israel: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Israel. A negative PCR COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Japan: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Japan. Non-essential travel for tourism and other short-term purposes to Japan is not permitted.
  • Malaysia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Malaysia. U.S. citizens are not permitted to enter the country. A negative COVID-19 test and mandatory quarantine are required for entry.
  • Mauritius: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Mauritius. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Mexico: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Mexico. Nonessential travel across the Mexico-U.S. land border has been temporarily restricted.
  • New Zealand: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for New Zealand. Non-citizens and non-residents are barred from entering the country.
  • Panama: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Panama. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Peru: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution advisory for Peru. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Trinidad and Tobago: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Trinidad and Tobago. Travelers must provide proof of full vaccination with a WHO approved vaccine to enter.
  • Russia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Russia. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry.
  • Saudi Arabia: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Saudi Arabia. Travelers from the U.S. must provide a negative COVID-19 test and have insurance covering the risks of coronavirus infection for entry into Saudi Arabia.
  • Seychelles: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Seychelles. Travelers must provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test and a valid Health Travel Authorization to enter the country.
  • Singapore: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Singapore. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry. Short-term visitors are not allowed entry unless they have a valid approval letter. Permanent residents returning to Singapore will be issued a Stay-Home Notice.
  • South Africa: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for South Africa. Travelers must provide a negative COVID-19 test for entry.
  • Thailand: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for Thailand. Travelers must provide a negative COVID-19 test for entry.
  • United Arab Emirates: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates. Travelers entering the United Arab Emirates must have a tourist visa and proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
  • United Kingdom: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for the United Kingdom. Travelers from the US and EU no longer need to quarantine on arrival, but still need to provide negative COVID-19 PCR tests.
  • Effective August 6, 2020, The United States Department of State has lifted its Global Level 4 Health Advisory, which advised U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19. The Department is returning to its previous system of country-specific levels of travel advice (with Levels from 1-4 depending on country-specific conditions), in order to give travelers detailed and actionable information to make informed travel decisions. The Department continues to recommend U.S. citizens exercise caution when traveling abroad due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic.
  • Vietnam: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory for Vietnam. Travelers need pre-approval to be permitted entry depending on the purpose of their travel, but will be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test and undergo a mandatory quarantine.
  • Zimbabwe: Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution advisory for Zimbabwe. A negative COVID-19 test is required for entry, and travelers may be asked to undergo quarantine on arrival.
